Father Brown is a period detective series based on the Father Brown short stories by G. K. Chesterton and starring Mark Williams as the crime-solving Roman Catholic priest. The show premiered on BBC One on 14 January 2013 and an eleventh season aired in January 2024, making a total of 120 episodes. It is the second-longest-running daytime drama series broadcast by the BBC.
Set in the fictional, sleepy Cotswold village of Kembleford and the surrounding countryside, the series follows Father Brown as he tackles murder and mayhem caused by his parishioners at St Mary's Church, the village's inhabitants and in some cases, other members of the clergy. Assisted by his household - chaotic parish secretary Mrs Devine and blunt housekeeper Brenda Palmer, Father Brown always catches the culprit, even if the police do get in his way occasionally. Previously, his team consisted of his stalwart parish secretary Mrs McCarthy, the beautiful and clever socialites Lady Felicia Montague and Bunty Windermere, and his loyal if troublemaking handyman Sid Carter.
